Faculty Position Surgical Physician Assistant Program Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences University of Alabama at Birmingham
The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s (UAB) School of Health Professions (SHP) is accepting applications for a faculty position in the Surgical Physician Assistant Program. SHP is one of our nation’s largest and most diverse schools of its type with more than twenty programs at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels.
The primary responsibilities of this position will include didactic instruction, scholarly activity, community service, and student advising. Time will be available for clinical practice and opportunities will exist for professional advancement. The Surgical Physician Assistant Program faculty consists of an energetic, cohesive group of six individuals, and the program has an excellent collaborative learning relationship with the UAB medical school and surrounding medical community. UAB Hospital is currently ranked as one of the premier medical schools and research institutions in the country.
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited physician assistant program (doctorate preferred) and a current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification. Significant experience in teaching Anatomy and Physiology is required. All candidates must be eligible for licensure in the state of Alabama and possess at least two years of combined clinical practice and teaching experience. The successful candidate without a doctoral degree will be expected to obtain the degree within a timeline specified at employment. Salary, academic rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
